Editorial policy

Last updated

This page explains how articles on AlixaCrochet are made, so you can judge how much to rely on them.

Who writes the articles

Articles are written and edited by Alixa. Author pages show who wrote what. We don't publish anonymous articles or invent authors, credentials or reviews.

How patterns and tutorials are checked

Before publication, a person checks every pattern and tutorial:

  • stitch counts, rounds and rows
  • measurements and gauge
  • yarn weight, fiber and amounts
  • hook sizes and the crochet terms used (US or UK, always stated)
  • that the steps can actually be followed in order

When something hasn't been made and tested from the written pattern, the article doesn't say it has. If a value is an estimate (for example, yarn amounts for a different size), the article says so.

Use of AI tools

Some drafts and illustrations start with AI tools. AI output is never published on its own: a person reviews it, checks every instruction and number listed above, removes anything that can't be verified, and approves it before it goes live. AI-generated images illustrate ideas; they aren't presented as photos of a specific finished item made by us unless they are.

Originality

Articles are written for this site. We don't copy, translate or closely paraphrase other designers' patterns or articles. If an article is based on a traditional stitch or technique, it explains it in our own words; if we credit or link to another designer, we say so clearly.

Updates and corrections

Crochet patterns can contain mistakes. If you find one, please tell us at contact@alixacrochet.com. We correct errors as soon as they're confirmed, and articles show an "Updated" date when their content changes significantly.

The site is funded by advertising and affiliate links (see the affiliate disclosure). Advertisers and affiliate partners don't see or approve articles before publication, and they don't decide what we write about or recommend. Ads are labelled "Advertisement" and kept visually separate from articles.
